Over the years, City of Refuge has received several awards, grants, as well as recognition for transforming lives. The following information provides a snapshot of some of our most notable achievements
In 2015 City of Refuge was presented with the Tocqueville Society’s Mark O’Connell Community Impact Award.
In 2015 City of Refuge received Chick-fil-A’s True Inspiration Award for Innovative Education.
In 2011 City of Refuge was selected as one of two winners of the Bank of America Neighborhood Builders $200,000 Award.
In 2010 Bruce Deel was named the Atlanta Braves representative to the Major League Baseball People Magazine All Stars Among Us Award. He was selected as one of 30 representatives for MLB teams from over 3,500 applicants.
In 2010, City of Refuge received the Bridge Builder Award from the Georgia Coalition against Homelessness for opening Eden Village in December of 2008 and Eden Village II in July of 2009.
In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, City of Refuge received an official Commendation from Georgia’s Governor, Sonny Perdue, for recruiting 2,500 volunteers from a dozen companies to help 3,500 evacuees.
In December 2005, The Coca-Cola Foundation awarded City of Refuge a grant at their annual Christmas party for outstanding service by an Atlanta nonprofit.
